According to analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, one of the most recognized voices in the mobile phone industry, the new device could reach the market in the second half of next year.

OpenAI’s new smartphone: an intelligent assistant without apps
This proposal centers on an intelligent agent capable of understanding the user’s context in real time, anticipating their needs, and autonomously executing tasks. Instead of opening apps for each action, this system will allow users to perform tasks through conversational interaction or even proactively. From organizing schedules to requesting services or managing communications, the mobile phone would act as a comprehensive assistant that learns and evolves with each use.

Specifically, MediaTek and Qualcomm are participating in the development of optimized advanced processors, with the Dimensity 9600 slated to be the manufacturer’s most powerful chip by 2027. OpenAI also has the support of Luxshare, a world-leading manufacturer of electronic components, cables, connectors, and assemblies, which is contributing to the manufacturing of the new mobile phone.
Furthermore, the device will incorporate cutting-edge components, such as high-speed memory and image processing systems designed to interpret the physical environment. The camera, for example, will not only capture images but will also function as an active sensor that helps the system understand what is happening around the user.
However, the ambitious project is not without its challenges. OpenAI faces significant financial pressures stemming from its infrastructure and development investments, making it all the more urgent to transform this innovation into a viable and profitable product.
