Salesforce is considering changing its name to Agentforce to reflect its commitment to AI

Salesforce is considering renaming itself Agentforce to reflect its strategy focused on artificial intelligence and AI agents.

Salesforce, the American multinational software company, could undergo a radical identity change, with the tech giant considering renaming itself Agentforce, in line with its strategy focused on artificial intelligence. This was confirmed by its president and CEO, Marc Benioff, in an interview with Business Insider.

The potential rebranding is not accidental, given that the company has been adapting the nomenclature of its products and services to its AI platform: sales are now called Agentforce Sales, the services offering is now Agentforce Service, and the core platform is presented as Agentforce 365 Platform. Benioff indicated that he wouldn’t be surprised if the entire company adopted the name, following the trend of tech giants like Facebook, which became Meta, or Square, which became Block.

The change in focus responds to a phenomenon that Salesforce has observed among its customers: the word «cloud,» which defined the company for years with products like Sales Cloud and Data Cloud, is no longer a priority. According to Benioff, customers now want to talk about artificial intelligence agents, and the company has adjusted its communication to reflect that demand. Even at the recent Dreamforce conference, the executive avoided mentioning the cloud and focused his presentation on interacting with AI agents.

Financial Results and Strong Outlook

The announcement follows a strong quarter for Salesforce ending October 31, with earnings of $2.086 billion (€1.791 billion), a 36.6% increase year-over-year. Total revenue reached $10.259 billion (€8.795 billion), driven primarily by subscriptions, which generated $9.726 billion (€8.338 billion).

For the first nine months of the year, Salesforce reported earnings of $5.514 billion (€4.733 billion), a 22.8% increase over 2014, and revenue of $30.324 billion (€25.998 billion), an 8.7% increase. The company has also raised its guidance, estimating revenue of between $11.13 billion and $11.23 billion for the fourth quarter, and between $41.45 billion and $41.55 billion for the full year.

Benioff highlighted the contribution of the Agentforce and Data 360 products, which generate approximately $1.4 billion in recurring annual revenue, a 114% increase year-over-year.

From the Cloud to AI Agents

With this move, Salesforce is reinforcing its strategic transformation toward agentic artificial intelligence, seeking to align its corporate identity with the software that drives its new technological vision. The company aims to solidify its position as a leader in AI tools for sales, service, and data analytics, adapting to the current needs of its customers.

The potential name change, while not yet finalized, symbolizes Salesforce’s ambition to lead the next phase of business innovation, in which artificial intelligence agents take center stage over traditional concepts like the cloud.
